Training Courses Offered
There are two routes of training and certification for chainsaw use available; courses for occasional users and courses for professional users.
Occasional Users
This route is recommended for users for intend to use the chainsaw for, business, domestic or leisure activities.
But does not wish to work in the arboriculture or forestry industry, work on forestry commission land or intend to fell trees over 200mm in diameter (at ground level).
These courses are run as an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA). Which means your instructor will train and assess you. On successful completion a Lantra awards certificate of training will be awarded.
Two ITA courses are available:
Professional Users
This route is intended for persons who wish to enter the arboriculture or forestry industry.
Also for people who wish to fell trees which are greater than 200mm at ground height and involved in aerial tree work. A separate independent assessment will be required.
- Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting
- Felling small trees up to 380mm, including takedown of hung up trees using hand tools
- Felling & processing trees over 380mm
- Tree climbing and aerial rescue
- Chainsaw from rope and harness
